User Roles
Overview
Section titled “Overview”The Harvest Management System uses role-based access control. Your role determines which features you can access and what actions you can perform.
Available Roles
Section titled “Available Roles”| Role | Description |
|---|---|
| Super Admin | Full system access - can manage all features including users, settings, and permissions |
| Operations Manager | Can manage harvest days, transactions, room assignments, plantings, and flushes |
| Supervisor | Can view all harvest data and manage all room pickers. Room Assignments are limited to only their assigned rooms |
| Data Manager | Can manage master data (sites, rooms, products, spawns) |
Role Permissions
Section titled “Role Permissions”Super Admin
Section titled “Super Admin”Full Access:
- All system features and modules
- User management
- System settings and configuration
- All data management functions
- All harvest operations
- All crop management functions
Use Cases:
- System administrators
- IT staff managing the system
- Farm owners needing full access
Operations Manager
Section titled “Operations Manager”Can Manage:
- Harvest days
- Room assignments
- Transactions
- Plantings
- Flushes
Can View:
- Sites, rooms, products, spawns (read-only)
- All harvest data
- Dashboard widgets
Cannot Access:
- User management
- System settings
- Creating or editing sites, rooms, products, spawns
Use Cases:
- Farm managers overseeing daily operations
- Operations coordinators
- Staff managing harvest and planting operations
Supervisor
Section titled “Supervisor”Can Manage:
- Room pickers (all pickers)
- View all harvest data
Can View:
- All harvest days
- All transactions
- All room assignments (but can only edit their own)
- Dashboard widgets
Limited Access:
- Room Assignments: Can only edit assignments where they are the assigned supervisor
- Cannot create or edit harvest days
- Cannot manage plantings or flushes
- Cannot manage master data
Use Cases:
- Field supervisors overseeing picking operations
- Team leaders managing picker teams
- Staff monitoring daily harvest activities
Data Manager
Section titled “Data Manager”Can Manage:
- Sites
- Rooms
- Products
- Spawns
Can View:
- Plantings (read-only)
- Flushes (read-only)
- Dashboard widgets
Cannot Access:
- Harvest operations (harvest days, room assignments, transactions)
- User management
- System settings
Use Cases:
- Administrative staff managing master data
- Data entry personnel
- Staff responsible for maintaining product and location information
Understanding Your Role
Section titled “Understanding Your Role”To see what features you can access:
- Check the sidebar menu - you’ll only see menu items you have permission to access
- If you try to access a feature and get a permission error, you don’t have access for your role
- Contact your administrator if you believe you need different permissions
Changing Roles
Section titled “Changing Roles”User roles are assigned by system administrators. If you need a different role:
- Contact your system administrator
- Explain why you need different permissions
- The administrator will update your role if appropriate
Role Limitations
Section titled “Role Limitations”Why Some Features Are Restricted
Section titled “Why Some Features Are Restricted”- Security: Prevents unauthorized changes to critical data
- Data Integrity: Ensures only qualified users can modify important records
- Workflow: Maintains proper approval processes for certain operations
Common Restrictions
Section titled “Common Restrictions”- Supervisors can only edit their own room assignments to prevent conflicts
- Data Managers cannot modify harvest data to maintain data integrity
- Operations Managers cannot modify master data to prevent accidental changes
Troubleshooting Role Issues
Section titled “Troubleshooting Role Issues”Cannot Access Expected Features
Section titled “Cannot Access Expected Features”- Verify your role with your administrator
- Check that your role hasn’t been changed
- Some features may require specific permissions beyond your role
Need Additional Permissions
Section titled “Need Additional Permissions”- Contact your system administrator
- Explain what features you need access to and why
- The administrator will determine if your role should be changed
Role Seems Incorrect
Section titled “Role Seems Incorrect”- Your role is set by system administrators
- Contact your administrator to verify your role assignment
- Do not attempt to change your own role - this requires administrator access
